Develop computer programming code for software that catalogs, analyzes, optimizes and disseminates scientific data and biomedical information in large scale archives. Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field plus two years experience required. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree plus five years of directly related experience will, in the alternative, be accepted. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in C/C++, SQL, XML and Linux programming tools. All applicants must be approved and cleared by the US NIH NCBI prior to hiring.

Design, develop and program computer software and web applications to improve and enhance the U.S. NIH’s NCBI scientific data management and retrieval systems using expertise in Python, C++, LINUX, JavaScript, XML HTML, object oriented programming and related tools. Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math and 12 months prior experience desirable, and must also demonstrate proficiency in object oriented programming, XML, HTML, JavaScript and current database management software development tools and languages. To design and develop advanced software and systems infrastructure to analyze and catalog large scale scientific data archives. Must have a Masters Degree in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology. All applicants must be approved and cleared by the US NIH/NCBI, and must demonstrate proficiency in scientific data analysis and the development of software systems for large-scale data cataloging using current tools including C/C++, XML/XSLT, SQL, Perl, Python and related tools. A good candidate would be a Scientific Programmer interested in working in the bioinformatics field, primarily though a strong emphasis on C, C++ and Unix/Linux programming. Candidates must have a Masters or PhD in a scientific field (physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, etc), at least 5 years experience in C or C++, and a background in algorithm design and implementation. Past IT support of scientific research is highly desired. Experience with SQL, database and Python programming is beneficial.

The position of a Biotech Data Management Specialist requires work in the field of Bioinformatics with a strong emphasis in data processing and analysis, Perl or Python scripting experience and Unix/Linux. Candidates must have a Bachelor, Masters, or PhD in a scientific field (biology, bioinformatics, etc), and at least 3 years of experience in scientific data processing and analysis. A background in support of scientific research is highly desired. Experience with SQL and database programming is highly beneficial.

This is a position for a Scientific Quality Assurance Engineer to work collaboratively with development teams to design, implement, and execute quality assurance procedures and to ensure that systems are reliable and accurate. This employee will be responsible for creating and implementing QA strategies for digital publication and bioinformatics databases, infrastructure, high performance web-based applications, and miscellaneous software components. Candidates should have 2+ years of experience in a software development role and academic or professional background in biology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Experience with two or more of the following: Perl, Java, SQL, C, C++, C#, Python, XML/XSLT is highly desired.

We are looking for a Web Application Developer to add new features to existing web applications and to create new web applications using XML, XSLT, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and scripting languages in a proprietary Web application framework. Candidates must have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a similar field, and should have 2+ years of experience in a web software development role. Very strong HTML/JavaScript/CSS, AJAX, cross-browser development, server-side programming (using C/C++ or Python or Ruby or Perl) experience is required. Experience with Linux, XML/XSLT, jQuery, SQL, Java, PHP, accessibility (section 508 and/or WCAG) is highly desired.

This position is for a Senior Software Developer - DevOps to manage and direct the operation, enhancement and improvements of the NIH NLM’s scientific data management and retrieval systems and networks to support their research programs by maintaining the CI/CD and AWS cloud infrastructures using current software development tools and advanced systems technologies. Candidates must have a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Applications, Information Technology or similar field, and should have 2+ years of experience in a software development role. Must also demonstrate an advanced level of proficiency in database management software development including Linux, Python, GitLab, Docker and others.

Software Development Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a scientific environment, including defining technical and functional requirements, quality control planning, implementation, upgrades, and integration with existing systems through the Agile Process methodology. Position includes daily coordination of complex technical projects dealing with scientific and genomic data. The project manager will participate in and provide technical and administrative expertise to software development projects. He or she will be responsible for software/system design and specifications, system implementation and integration, and testing, as well as for tracking milestones and producing deliverables. He or she will balance risks, schedules, and resources; coordinate cross-functional teams of various sizes with diverse technical skills sets; and advise senior management on technical issues. The project manager will also communicate project issues to stakeholders and senior management. Candidates must have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or similar field, at least 3 years of project management experience and at least 5 years of experience in a technical field, hands-on experience with MS Office, Sharepoint, XML, HTML, experience in one or more software development technologies such as C, C++, Java, Macromedia ColdFusion, Perl, or Python. Effective verbal and written communications skills are also required. Experience with scientific or biological data, Agile methodology, large databases, statistical analysis, clinical data and SQL is highly desired.

The position requires an Online Journal Specialist to process digital publications and load content to a database using web based tools and UNIX scripts. The online journal specialist will check accuracy and integrity of source data and online presentation of journal content; conduct data analysis and troubleshoot errors; coordinate with appropriate personnel to solve programming and content-related issues; track incoming content and the progress of work on multiple projects in development or production stages; and answer helpdesk queries from users. Knowledge of XML and/or HTML, excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills, ability to communicate technical and non-technical information effectively to publishers, developers, and data providers, to conduct data analysis and to work with complex, detailed information is required. Experience managing production workflow of an online publication, electronic image formats, editing journal or book content is highly desired.
